Total War: Warhammer 2 Review
Total War: Warhammer is a real-time tactic and turn-based strategy game by the creative assembly and was published by Sega. This game is the sequel to the Total war: Warhammer Series.
Reborngamers Review :
A game which is considered to be a sequel doesn’t look like one instead, it's like an Expansion pack for us. There are New Factions, new features, improvements and enhancements which all attribute to an expansion, not a Sequel. Having said that this game has a big and long map, with an excellent campaign to play through. Even though the available factions are limited, they are just awesome to play with. The issue with Total war: Warhammer was the introduction of game mechanics, but this one is friendly to its beginners. It will give you all the details about how to get started.
There are 4 main factions to choose from The High Elves, Dark elves, Lizardman and Skaven faction, every faction is so unique and fun to play. It was heartbreaking to not see a fully playable Human faction in the game, but the main factions just let you forget about it. There are non-playable factions such as dwarfs, vampires but doesn't have an impact on this game. Even the minor details in this game have been thought out in an excellent manner. For Ex: When you start a battle you will have three options to execute, Fight battle auto-resolve and Retreat, the game just gives you the factions speech when you hover over the option.
We have to praise the campaign of the game, amazingly executed strategic depth with great graphics and a very big, good looking map. Its campaign is just great. The storyline is so powerful where there is a vortex in the center of everything and every faction must try to reach it by performing rituals, this upgrade is new to the series where you compete with your enemies for a contested endgame goal. Waypoints are how you can progress through these rituals, earn it by capturing cities or doing issued quests. When a race has enough waypoints they can perform the ritual.
There are total five rituals you have to perform to get to the endgame.Every time you perform a ritual you will be attacked my chaos forces to stop the rituals when an enemy tries to perform a ritual you can send an AI army to stop it, they are called the intervention army(Pay gold For the army) or you can go ahead and fight them with your army. Decision making will be important in this part of the game, make your moves correctly. This system is new and its a thrill ride.
In this game, you can pass rites and commandments to an entire province you have control over to receive powerful upgrades. Each and every time your Lord or Hero obtain level up in battles they earn traits and skills you can choose the upgrade for them, you will find it exciting developing their skills. But the units level up needs a lot of work in this game.
The battle system has large-scale armies as it did with the previous installments, but this sequel lets the players use surgical strikes type of attacks on the enemy. The battles are fantastic, whether you are fighting an enemy in open fields or hilltops or a settlement. The strategic depth and visuals are stunning in this game. We just found the siege battles much more fun. when you siege the enemy fortress you have to follow the rules of engagement like building siege towers, battering rams getting your units to the control point or ultimately eliminating your enemies. The AI will be competitive.
Diplomacy has always lacked in the War hammer series but in this game it is balanced. The economy will determine how fast you advance through the game, you must build or upgrade your buildings to even afford an army, creating a new army with a lord is much harder in this game. The main issue in this game is the loading time it takes between tactical and strategy maps, we had to wait for a good amount of time in between battles which is excruciating.
Verdict :
We thought this game would be the hated game in the franchise which turned out to be a fantastic game in the series. It is fresh, Big and daring, and it has gained its spotlight with its own might.
